Rehearsals begin for BRIGHTEST RED TO BLUE
On Tuesday, April 25, 2011 the cast and crew of Forerunner Playwrights’ Theatre latest play, Graham Percy’s BRIGHTEST RED TO BLUE, gathered for their first day of rehearsals. Forerunner Playwrights’ Theatre is a playwright driven theatre company, which is dedicated to premiering new plays. BRIGHTEST RED TO BLUE will be our eighth world premiere.
BRIGHTEST RED TO BLUE will take Forerunner to a place we have never been before – a graveyard in London, England in 1870. When Lizzie Siddal, famed Pre-Raphaelite supermodel dies in 1862, a broken-hearted Dante Gabriel Rossetti buries his poems along with her in an expression of undying love. Six years later he changes his mind and goes back for them. In BRIGHTEST RED TO BLUE, Victorian England comes alive in a hilarious and heartfelt depiction of one of the most infamous nights in art history.
The exciting cast consists of noted Halifax actors/creators John Beale, who won the 2010 Merritt Award for Best Supporting Actor, Jeremy Webb, who is also a talented writer/director/producer, and Lisa Rose Snow, who is a member of Forerunner. We are also happy to have native Calgarian actress Jamie Konchak in the cast, for her East Coast debut. Natasha MacLellan, who founded Forerunner in 2003 with Nate Crawford, directs the show. Graham Percy, who co-wrote the Merritt nominated THE PEGGY SHOW with John Beale a few years ago, is also a talented local actor, and took home the 2010 Merritt Award for Best Actor.
Another exciting addition to the team is Jon Landry and Jason MacIsaac of the popular local band The Stanfields, who won the 2011 ECMA for Rising Star of the Year and Mike MacDougall of the popular local band Jimmy Swift Band, who have signed on as Sound Designers. They will be creating all original music for the show, with lyrics based on original poetry from the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood.
